- The very first foreign delegation is allowed in Sverdlovsk (later, Ekaterinburg), Russia – a group of young American Methodists travels to Russia.
- Lydia Istomina is one of the people to meet the group
- Member of the group, American Pastor Dwight Ramsey, speaks at the Urals State University on Methodism and Methodist Church
- A group of Russian people comes together to continue on with the message received, with Lydia Istomina as the lead
- Summer – with the help from UMC in Tallin, Estonia, Samara UMC’s journey begins
- September – Ekaterinburg group grows from 20 to 602 of interested supporters of the idea to start a Methodist church in Russia.
- October – official registration of the religious group, later the church
- November –a piece of land is granted by the city government for the building of the future church site
- December – the Rev. Cho Young Cheul is assigned to Moscow as a missionary by the New York Annual Conference; Bishop C. Dale White is assigned to serve as a pastor in Moscow to the congregation registered as the “Moscow-Soviet-American Korean Society of the Methodist Church.”
